Payment Policy

• No Credit Card Needed: Booking does not require a credit card.

• Card Payments: Payments are instant and securely processed through Stripe Payment Gateway, ensuring high security and encryption.

• Bank Transfer, Cash Payment, POS Terminal: A 25% deposit is required to secure the reservation, and this payment must be made within 3 days of the reservation. Clients will receive a payment link via email.

• Car Authorization: Every reservation requires a valid car authorization, which will be sent via email. This authorization will not charge any amount but is mandatory to receive our services.

Deposit Requirement & Refund Policy
A refundable security deposit is required for all vehicle rentals, based on the category:

• Group A, A1, B, B1: €300

• Group C, C1, D, D1, E, E1: €400

• Group F, F1, F2, G, G1, H, H1: €500

Deposits are refunded within 5-15 days after vehicle return (inspection required), provided no damages, violations, or restricted terrain use occurred. Violating rental policies results in a non-refundable deposit.

Cancellation Policy

• Full Refund: Cancellations 7+ days before rental start.

• 50% Refund: Cancellations less than 7 days before start.

• No Refund: Cancellations on rental day or no-shows.

Insurance Options

1. Collision Damage Waiver (CDW)

   • Covers damage and theft with an excess amount:

     • Group A, A1, B, B1: €400

     • Group C, C1, D, D1, E, E1: €500

     • Group F, F1, F2, G, G1, H, H1: €1,000

   • Exclusions: Tires, lost keys, wrong fuel usage, roof/undercarriage damage, and failure to check oil levels.

   • CDW is void if:

     • Unauthorized drivers operate the vehicle.

     • The driver is under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

     • The vehicle is used for illegal activities or racing.

     • Accidents are not reported immediately, or within 12 hours.

2. Excess Reduction (ER)

   • Reduces CDW excess by 30% for an additional daily fee:

     • Group A, A1, B, B1: €6/day (Excess: €280)

     • Group C, C1, D, D1, E, E1: €9/day (Excess: €350)

     • Group F, F1, F2, G, G1, H, H1: €11/day (Excess: €700)

3. Zero Excess Coverage (ZE)

   • Reduces the excess to €0 for covered incidents, excluding windshields, oil sump and under carriage..

     • Group A, A1, B, B1: €12/day

     • Group C, C1, D, D1, E, E1: €18/day

     • Group F, F1, F2, G, G1, H, H1: €22/day

   • ZE Security Deposit: A €120 deposit is required for non-insurable costs (e.g., fuel differences, fines, negligence-related damages).

Restricted Terrain Policy
Driving on restricted terrains voids all insurance and deposit refunds. Prohibited areas include:

• Balos Cape

• Spatha Cape

• Seitan Limania

• Kedrodasos

A map of restricted areas is available upon request.

Fuel Policy

• Return Requirement: Fuel level must match the level at pickup.

• Refueling Charge: €2.50/liter + €20 service fee if returned with less fuel.

Road Assistance

• 24/7 Roadside Assistance: Available starting at €50 per call.

• Optional Coverage: €3/day for unlimited basic assistance calls.

Additional Services

• Child Seats & Baby Chairs:
  Drivers or responsible adults are solely responsible for the correct installation and secure fastening of child seats in the vehicle. IQ Car Rentals assumes no liability for any accidents, injuries, or damages resulting from improper installation or failure to adhere to safety guidelines by the renter, driver, or responsible adult.

  • Infant Seat: €3/day (For newborns 12-15 months, ~13 kg / 29 lbs).

  • Toddler Seat: €3/day (For children 1-4 years, ~9-18 kg / 20-40 lbs).

  • Booster Seat: €3/day (For children 4-12 years, ~15-36 kg / 33-79 lbs).

• Additional Driver: €5/day (Must meet rental criteria).
  Additional drivers must be present at rental commencement to sign the agreement. Ensure all drivers are authorized to maintain insurance coverage.

• Young Driver Insurance: €12/day (For drivers aged 21-22).

• Tire & Windshield Protection: €3.8/day
  Covers damages to tires, windshield, and wheel system; requires CDW.

• Accident Insurance: €2.7/day
  Covers driver disability/death up to €15,000. Exclusions apply for unauthorized driving.

• Liability Insurance: Included
  Covers third-party injuries up to €1,300,000 per accident, excluding the driver.

• OAP (Old Age Pensioner) Rental: €5/day
  Available for renters aged 70+. Maximum driving age in Greece is 80.

Out of Hours Pickup & Return

• Fee: €20 (for pickups or returns from 22:00 to 08:00).

General Policies

• Driving License: Minimum 12 months of valid license required. Non-EU renters need an international permit.

• Minimum Age: 21 for Mini, Economy, Compact; 25 for Premium, Luxury, Commercial.

• Maximum Age: 80 years old, per Greek regulations.

• Minimum Rental Period: 24 hours.

• Late Returns: 1-hour grace period, after which extra charges apply.

• Prohibited Travel: Clients are strictly prohibited from taking rental cars outside Crete island.

Parking Fines Management

• Notification: Renters are informed of any tickets.

• Payment: Renters can pay directly or have us handle it for a €25 administrative fee.

• Fine Contestation: Available through gov.gr, epay.chania.gr, or epay.heraklion.gr.

Data Protection & Privacy

• We prioritize your data security.

• Your information is used strictly for rental management.

• No data is shared without consent unless legally required.
